Sarah Donaldson has worked in education, specializing in elementary literacy instruction, for the past 16 years. She began her teaching career as a classroom teacher, lead teacher, mentor, and EAL teacher and coach in Ontario public schools.  She has spent the last 6 years in international education, Korea and Brazil specifically, as a classroom teacher, teacher leader, and kindergarten to grade 8 literacy coach.  She specializes in literacy assessment and instruction and has planned and facilitated regional literacy conferences.  Sarah most enjoys coaching and consulting teams of teachers and administrators in how to gather, analyze and use various types of student assessment data in order to plan and differentiate reading and writing instruction.  Sarah recently published her thesis on how to use effective, engaging literacy instruction as a vehicle for inquiring into global social justice issues.  Sarah's workshops can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your school.

Running Records

3- 4 days -  labsites - in person
Teachers often use running records when mandated by their school and once data is entered, are often unsure how this accuracy and comprehension data can help guide their reading, writing, and word study instruction.  Sarah specializes in working with teams of teachers on how to administer and analyze running records so they become a useful and valuable source of formative assessment data.  Sarah helps all educators use running records more often and with more purpose in order to move student reading and spelling forward.

As teachers and students moved online, so did parents.  It is important to remember that most parents/guardians are not educators themselves.  How can we make them feel included and valued?
With the rising competition for qualified teachers, there is simply no substitute for a real person able to answer questions, and to talk knowledgeably not only about your school, but also your city, country, and region.
