NOTE: We did make a statement in favor of anti-discrimination and Black Lives Matter this year before most of the other companies, not because we were following a trend but because it was something that we wholeheartedly believe. However, we are happy to put our guiding principles into words.
To start with, Webber’s Ed is owned and operated by people of color. I, myself, identify as Mexican-American, Italian-American as well as a descendent of African-American heritage that suffered the bonds of slavery. This is not just about making a good business, but about being a good and ethical person.
Webber’s Ed has always chosen to represent only schools and educators that practice ethical behavior. We have declined contracts from organizations and individuals that we felt did not uphold these values.
Webber’s Ed has always represented educators that do not speak English as a first language, or come from an anglicized country and will continue to do so.
We have always encouraged and welcomed black people, indigenous people and people of color and we will continue to do so.
We have always encouraged and welcomed members of the LGBTQ community and we will continue to do so.
We have always encouraged and welcomed people who are differently abled and we will continue to do so.
We have always encouraged and welcomed older candidates who possess years of wisdom and experience and we will continue to do so.
We also recognize that we are not perfect and perhaps we may have made mistakes like any other human being, but we are committed to learning from our diverse community and correcting those mistakes.
“We live here. We work here.”, is not just a catchy slogan for our company. It is a heartfelt commitment to our community. It is a commitment to everyone in our community. It is a commitment to ourselves and our families so that we can look each other in the eye and be proud of what we accomplish together.
