We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Advanced Math Teacher to join our academic team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, with a focus on advanced topics suitable for high school students.

As a Secondary Advanced Mathematics Teacher, you hold a pivotal role in equipping students with the mathematical skills, problem-solving abilities, and analytical thinking required for success in higher education and beyond. Your primary responsibility is to create a stimulating learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of advanced mathematical concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Teaching certification or licensure in secondary mathematics (or eligible for certification/licensure)
  • Strong knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts and principles
  • Demonstrated expertise in mathematics instruction, curriculum development, and assessment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for mathematics education and student success
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
  • Experience working with secondary students preferred
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.

As a High School Advanced Math Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students to excel in their mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for advanced math courses, including but not limited to calculus, algebra, geometry, and statistics.

2. Create lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning needs of students while adhering to state standards and curriculum guidelines.

3. Utilize a variety of instructional methods, resources, and technologies to enhance student understanding and engagement.

4. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to guide their learning.

5. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and motivated to achieve their academic goals.

6. Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate interdisciplinary projects and integrate math concepts across the curriculum.

7. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, curriculum updates, and educational initiatives.

8. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in math education and pedagogy.

Math Department Chair Duties:
● Work closely with section Principal and Curriculum Coordinator /Instructional coach to ensure curriculum is being followed, implemented and assessed as efficiently as possible
● Ensure that students at all levels of proficiency are being challenged with quality lessons and learning activities
● Ensure that the learning needs of all students are being met and assessed accordingly
● Regularly review and provide feedback to supervisors regarding teaching resources and materials, both printed and digital
● Actively promote student participation in local, regional and international mathematics competitions

IMPLEMENTATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES/DELIVERY:

  • ● Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
  • ● Ensure that students are engaged in meaningful, relevant learning throughout their class time.
  • ● Apply principles of learning and effective teaching in instructional delivery that align with the school’s vision and strategic plan.
  • ● Use appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.

ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT:

  • ● Establish an appropriate testing environment and ensure test security.
  • ● Establish and maintain efficient record keeping procedures.
  • ● Develop and use standards- aligned assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) to assist the continuous development of learners.
  • ● Interpret and use data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • ● Use ongoing assessment to monitor student progress, verify that learning is occurring and adjust curriculum and instruction.
  • ● Communicate, in understandable terms, individual students progress knowledgeably and responsibly to the student, parents and professional colleagues who need access to the information.
  • ● Encourage self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance.

MANAGEMENT OF LEARNING ENVIRONMENT:

  • ● Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • ● Maintain a clean, attractive, and organized learning environment.
  • ● Establish routines and procedures and work with students on consistently following them and ensure efficiency in the classroom.
  • ● Ensure students adhere to school policies.
  • ● Create a learning climate that is challenging, yet non-threatening.
  • ● Assist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations and MDA school policy.
  • ● Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others by role modeling and learning activities.
  • ● Recognize overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate intervention, referral, or reporting actions.
  • ● Establish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective.

SCHOOL CULTURE

  • ● Demonstrate a caring attitude and display a relationship of mutual respect with each student.
  • ● Respond to student questions and concerns in a positive, constructive manner.
  • ● Create a positive learning environment, which encourages social interaction, active engagement and self-motivation.

Please note that this school cannot provide placement for dependent children (unless they are Jewish) but they do provide a stipend to support children who are not  dependents of Jewish parents.

Teachers are not required to be Jewish to work at the school. 

Also, if your visa is from a country that requires an "Autorized Visa" you will most likely not be accepted as the visa process is very difficult. This is Panamanian law and has nothing to do with the school.
