Job Description:

The School is seeking a dynamic and experienced IB MYP/DP English B Language Acquisition Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum frameworks, along with a passion for fostering a love of literature and language in students and the knowledge and experience to develop a reading culture. 

Responsibilities:

• Teach English Language B  in alignment with the IB MYP/DP curriculum standards.

• Design engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

• Foster critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills through the exploration of literary texts and language studies.

• Implement authentic formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and promote a holistic learning experience.

• Support students in developing research, writing, and presentation skills required for IB assessments and projects.

• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that values cultural diversity and promotes academic excellence.

• Provide guidances and support for students` language development outside of the classroom

• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic goals, and upcoming events.

• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay abreast of IB updates and methodologies related to IB and language.

• Contribute to the extracurricular life of the school community through involvement in clubs, activities, and events.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching varied levels of second language learners, preferably in an IB MYP/DP or international school setting.

• Certification or training in IB MYP/DP curriculum is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in both English and Spanish (bilingualism is an asset).

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

• Passion for lifelong learning and a commitment to professional growth.

• Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges and change.
