- G4 Teacher self-contained homeroom teacher
- Upper primary teaching experience with good references
- A teaching degree and certificate
- Common Core Curriculum experience would be beneficial
- Reading/Writing Workshop experience would be beneficial
Qualifications and Experience Required:
1. College degree with an emphasis in Elementary Education.
2. Current Elementary teaching certification.
3. Flexible and capable of facilitating learning for ages 8-11 with an understanding of the different developmental needs of these age groups.
4. Experienced with curriculum articulation with a deep knowledge of current assessment practices in education.
5. Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience and proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, organization, writing, listening and communications.
6. Able to create a learning environment that fosters student participation and encourages analytical thinking, cross cultural understanding and values diversity.
7. Able to differentiate instruction for a variety of learning needs within a classroom including second language support.
8. A deep understanding of how to facilitate learning in numeracy, literacy, and student led inquiry units.
9. Ability to incorporate technology/STEM into classroom instruction and inquiry units.
10. Skilled using a variety of learning apps/platforms (Nearpod, BookCreator, Lexia, IXL, Seesaw, Schoology)
Essential Functions:
● Planning which accommodates a range of ability levels and learning styles; teachers are expected to modify and accommodate for students as needed, i.e. accommodating individual language needs (ELL), student support services, students who are struggling as well as students who need more of a challenge
● Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans, such as using MAP data to inform instruction and foster an environment of goal setting.
● Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
● Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
● Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. narratives, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
● Willingness to contribute to the wider school goals for improvement and other aspects of the learning program like sports, fine arts, clubs etc.
● Communicate student learning and growth with parents and cultivate a positive home/school relationship.
● Is able to foster deep, real world learning in linking to service learning opportunities and authentic experiences for students.
