Transforming children's lives by breaking the cycle of poverty
Children don’t choose to be born into poverty. Most grow up never realizing their human potential. Instead, they face physical and psychological trauma—hunger, malnutrition, disease, low self-esteem and lack of opportunity.
Christel House is a holistic model. We don’t just educate, or feed, or provide health care—we do all of these things—from early childhood through early adulthood. We develop the “whole child.”
The mission of Christel House is to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty, realize their hopes and dreams and become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. A Christel House Learning Center is a place for children to grow, to develop and to achieve dignity and success. It is a place where children learn the values of respect, responsibility, independence and integrity, develop a love of learning and maximize their human potential.
Education has always been the pathway to a better life
The environments into which Christel House children are born are filled with hopelessness. The future is generally limited to "tomorrow," and a high school education is for children from higher socio-economic circumstances. That's why we emphasize quality in everything we do.
Children attend our full-day school that meets all requirements of Mexico's education ministry and supplements core courses with enrichment activities like sports, art, music and character development. In addition to the comprehensive academic program, every student receives a uniform, school supplies and books.
